Keith Johnson and Nehemia Gordon recorded this testimony from Mount Yoash on the Israeli-Egyptian border after sighting the new moon marking the beginning of the biblical feast of Yom Teruah. Known in Jewish tradition as Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, the Bible refers to this feast as the “Day of Shouting” or “Day of Trumpets”. Jews all over the world traditionally blow a shofar, a ram’s horn, during the feast as a call to repentance and an act of devotion.
